Based on this the object outlined was to design a framework that guides project managers in deciding which development approach is most proper for increasing novelty value in digital platform business models. From the perspective of the abductive approach Design Science Research – DSR, three individualized studies were conducted - the first, a study of co-citation and bibliometric coupling that allowed an understanding of the evolution of the DPE framework and the main future topics addressed in this context, the second, a review of the literature leading to the relationship of features between digital business models and project management approaches in the context of DPE, and the third, a case study observing project managers decisions and interactions in one of the largest advanced multisided platform (MSP) companies, rising attributes related to novelty value creation. Establishing a comprehensive framework that contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the Project Management field, especially in the Approach Development decision. Because of the specificities of this context, project managers are become specialized in driving value creation for these types of businesses, like the emerging position “Digital Platform Project Manager”, growing the necessity of a framework to support the decision process of which PM Development approach helps to increase the novelty value in The DPE context.
